Coastal Wine Cellar Designer

US Cellar Systems Dealer in Orange County, California: Coastal Custom Wine Cellars

Coastal Custom Wine Cellars and US Cellar Systems have long been partners in creating the ideal wine storage solutions for wine collectors in Orange County, California. Both are leading companies in their respective areas. Coastal Custom Wine Cellars designs and builds custom wine cellars for both residential and commercial use in California, while US Cellar Systems builds and installs quality wine cellar cooling systems. Both companies understand the essentials of wine storage and wine aging; their products and services are always aimed towards providing the best wine storage conditions for their clients.

Residential Custom Wine Cellar Built in Santa Ana, Orange County, California

One of their most successful projects was a residential wine cellar built in a home in Santa Ana, California. The beautiful custom wine cellar was part of a large renovation project. The house had an old-school wet bar area that the clients wanted to be turned into a custom wine cellar. Since the wine cellar project was only part of a huge renovation project, Coastal’s wine cellar designers and builders worked closely with the client’s interior designer, Connie Robertson.

Wine Cellar Building

Area Converted to a Wine Cellar

Before the project began, Coastal discussed the wine cellar design with the homeowners and created a 3-dimensional design package for them to review. The design consisted of multiple views of each wall and elevation. This is one of the benefits of working with Coastal. This 3D design comes for free, once a client consults with them on their dream custom wine cellar design.

The construction began with gutting the area down to the studs and taking up the flooring in preparation for the new tile floor that will extend beyond the new custom wine cellar area. Once this was done, a completely raw canvass to work with was created, so that the building of the wine cellar itself could commence.

Santa Ana Home Wine Cellar Project Design

Wine Cellar Design in CA

Design by Coastal Custom Wine Cellars

The home custom wine cellar has a very modern design. It was made to accommodate 585 wine bottles, of which over 50 bottles could be displayed in a label forward, horizontal format. The display bottles are located on the sides of the beautiful Lattice-designed Arch, which is centered on the cellar’s back wall. Included in this wine cellar’s design is a crescent-shaped table with a beautiful diamond bin for bulk storage, and large format bottles centered below it. The tabletop was made out of the same wood that the custom wine racks are made from. The wood used for the entire residential wine cellar was Malaysian Mahogany with a Rustic Stain, and a Clear Lacquer Top Coat Finish to give it a glossy patina.

A reveal row was also included in the design of this unique residential custom wine cellar. On the display row, the bottles are placed at an angle, so that guests can view the labels without tilting the bottle upright (which would cause the wine to lose contact with the corks). Above the display rows, LED lights were installed, to highlight the wine bottle labels. LED lights were also installed inside the top of the arch, to highlight the wine tasting table. The symmetrical left and right wine cellar walls are mostly for single bottle storage. The middle section of the walls is where the horizontal and tilted display rows are located, and they create an LED highlighted visual feature in the wine storage room. The LED lights were strategically concealed behind a light valance, so that, although the lights themselves cannot be seen, they beautifully illuminate selected features of the wines for guests to see. Elegantly positioned wine cellar lighting can effectively create a dramatic ambiance in any custom wine cellar.

The seamless fixed glass wall and entry wine cellar door lend additional beauty to this residential wine cellar. The clients and their guests can see and enjoy the beauty of their wine cellar and their wine collection without the need to open the wine storage room too often. Constant opening of the wine cellar could otherwise compromise the controlled climate inside.

It took Coastal around 3 months to complete this Orange County Residential Custom Wine Cellar Project. The clients were incredibly pleased with the overall outcome of their residential custom wine storage room.

Effective Custom Wine Cellar Refrigeration System by US Cellar Systems

When Coastal constructs custom wine cellars, they always make sure that the wine cellar cooling unit is able to meet the wine storage requirements of a specific project perfectly. Different custom wine cellars need a different wine cellar refrigeration unit. This is why Coastal trusts only the most reliable wine cellar refrigeration system companies in California, one of which is US Cellar Systems.

For the Santa Ana Orange County California Residential Wine Cellar Project, US Cellar Systems installed a ductless split-type wine cellar cooling unit. The cooling unit was concealed in such a way that no mechanical component of the unit could be seen. The evaporator coil is placed in the soffit in the ceiling and covered by a wooden louvered grill cover, made from the same wood material as the wine racks so as to blend in with the rest of the wine cellar.

Residential Custom Wine Cellar Project in Coral Gables, Florida

WCI in Florida

Wine Cellar in Florida designed by WCI

One of the projects wherein US Cellar Systems worked with Wine Cellar International was a residential custom wine cellar built in Coral Gables, near Miami Florida. The house in which this contemporary residential wine cellar was built is brand new, and the space allocated was an L-shaped counter, meant to be used as a bar and entertainment area.

Originally, the client wanted the custom wine cellar design to be similar to a European shower, wherein the frames are not visible and only glass walls surround the room. But after consultation with the wine cellar construction expert, the client realized that this design would not make his wine storage room stand out. In their area, 50% of the residential wine cellars that were built were designed to have a sleek, sharp, and very modern look. In order to make their wine cellar stand out, they decided on a more contemporary look, with brushed steel framing and wine racking.

The custom wine cellar built for this Coral Gables was built the same way a commercial wine cellar would be built. That is why, although it is a home wine cellar, it has a very commercial appearance. The wine storage room is comprised of glass, brushed stainless steel, and metal. It also has a heavy gauge commercial grade wine cellar door, along with a commercial-style framework that one would normally see in a wine store.

This gorgeous home custom wine cellar can accommodate up to 891 wine bottles and includes a display rack at the front of the unit. The metal wine racks were bought from Vintage View, which is known for its exceptional metal racks.

Larger wine bottles, such as magnums of Champagnes, can also be accommodated by this wine cellar. A custom-made shelf piece was included so that the client could keep large wine bottles. This shelf can also be turned into a wine tasting table when it is not being used to store large-sized wine bottles.

This beautiful home custom wine cellar can be seen from outside of the house. When all the lights in the house are out except for those inside the cellar, this wine storage room looks spectacular.

Wine Cellar International converted the bar and entertainment area into a lovely wine cellar by tackling every single detail of wine cellar construction, including the building of the wine racks, installing the wine cellar frame, etc. It took them about 6 to 7 weeks to complete this wine cellar project in Miami, Florida.

Challenges in the Construction of this Coral Gables Residential Wine Cellar

There were a couple of challenges in building the residential wine cellar in Miami, Florida. One of the biggest challenges had something to do with the preset structural conditions of the area. In order to make it look right, a step down had to be incorporated. The area also had a drop-down on the ceiling, which had to be made part of the ceiling without looking out of place. The wine cellar builders did a brilliant job of concealing it beautifully.

The area where the wine cellar was built is 11 feet high. In order to maximize the space for wine racking, the wine cellar builders made sure that the racks went from the floor to the ceiling. To make the bottles stored on the highest racks easily accessible, a custom wine ladder was included in the design. The ladder came from Germany, which is where the brushed stainless steel came from as well. It was a challenge to install the custom wine ladder due to the limited space. In order to protect the wine racks from being hit by the ladder, a special bracket was handcrafted to hold the rail for the ladder off the wall.

Wine Cellar Cooling Unit Provider – US Cellar Systems

No custom wine cellar is complete without an efficient custom wine cellar refrigeration unit installed. In this particular wine cellar project, US Cellar Systems provided the cooling system. Specifically, an RM600 split-type wine cellar cooling system was installed. Since it was a split type of cooling system, the noisy part of the unit (condenser) was placed outside, 20 feet away from the client’s house.

The wine cellar cooling system installed was tucked into a corner, against the header. In traditional wooden custom wine cellars, a wooden grate is usually made to conceal the refrigeration unit. But since this particular residential custom cellar has a contemporary design, the refrigeration unit did not need to be hidden.

South Miami Florida
Wine Cellar International (WCI), is one of our top US Cellars Refrigeration System Dealers.

WCI designs and installs custom residential wine cellars in Florida.

WCI installed a US Cellars split system cooling unit for a residential Wine Cellar project in Coral Gables, in South Miami Florida.

The style of the residential wine cellar was a cool mix of modern and rustic styles. Often the wine cellar refrigeration systems are covered to hide the industrial appearance, but in this case, the homeowners decided to keep the cooling unit exposed as it blended perfectly with the modern components in the wine room.

Modern meets Rustic Custom Wine Cellar In South Miami Florida

The team at Wine Cellar International recently completed a contemporary wine cellar in Coral Gables, just five miles south of Miami, Florida.

Silver Oak Winery California and Wine Cellar InternationalThe US Cellar Systems cooling unit installed for this project was a Refrigeration Split System.

This was a special project; the South Miami wife wanted to build a wine room for her husband.

Her inspiration came from a trip she and her husband had visiting California Wineries. Silver Oaks Winery’s Modern wine racks stood out to the couple.

The brushed stainless steel bars with wood framing were unique from the traditional redwood wine racks they had seen.

In addition to the modern racks, there were rustic elements throughout the tasting room, which was a perfect blend of Modern and Rustic style to match the decor in their Coral Gables home.

Choosing the best Florida Designer and Installer using a US Cellars Refrigeration System

The homeowner worked closely with our dealer, Wine Cellar International. WCI has an excellent track record designing one-of-a-kind modern residential wine cellars in Florida.

South Miami Florida Wine Cellar 3-D Design in progress

Wine Cellar International – 3-D Design

Wine Cellar International used inspirational photos and images provided by the wife and took detailed measurements of the wine room before starting the 3-D design process.

During the design process, the refrigeration experts at Wine Cellar International worked with US Cellars to determine the size and model cooling unit required to provide optimal climate and humidity control for the South Miami wine cellar.

If the refrigeration system is not installed properly or if the cooling unit is not large enough for the custom room dimensions, an entire wine collection can be damaged.

The WCI designers worked together with their refrigeration experts to make sure the cooling units were installed in the optimal location to maintain the temperature and humidity balance so the homeowner’s private collection could age properly and preserve the wine.

For the Coral Gables home, they installed the Industrial Style Split System above the entry doors.

Customizing the details of the Modern meets Rustic Wine Cellar

After working with the South Miami Homeowner, the design consultants were able to customize the wine room to their client’s specific needs.

Not only did Wine Cellar International design the custom brushed stainless steel and wood wine racks that inspired the room, but they also added a custom humidor lined with Spanish cedar and a custom stainless steel wine table.

Modern Rustic South Miami Wine Cellar

The Rustic columns in between the racking, walls, and ceiling were actually new wood, distressed and stained.
Since the wine room was a focal point from the homeowner’s family room they chose tempered glass French doors, with rustic wood trim.
Through the glass doors, there is a clear view of the wine cellar, the Modern and Rustic style looks perfect with the rest of the Coral Gables home.

The US Cellar Split System was a perfect choice for the dimensions of the residential wine room.

It not only provides consistent temperature but also helps maintain the humidity balance to avoid corks from shrinking and allowing air into the wine bottles and destroying the wine quality by oxidation.

Another advantage Wine Cellar International found when using the US Cellars Refrigeration Split system was they could install the condenser outdoors to keep the noise from the cooling unit to a minimum inside the cellar.

Coastal Builds a Wine Cellar from this Powder Room

Powder Room to be made into a Wine Cellar

Wine Cellar Project in Lauren Hills, Orange County, California

US Cellars and Coastal Custom Wine Cellars are an unbeatable duo when it comes to providing excellent wine storage solutions in Orange County, California. One of their most successful wine cellar projects was recently completed in Laguna Hills, Orange County, California, in a sub-division known as Nellie Gail Ranch.

Coastal is known for creating effective wine storage rooms out of small spaces. For this Orange County wine cellar project, the space that was converted to a wine cellar used to be an unused powder room. You’d be surprised at how this tiny room was, yet it was turned into a beautiful custom wine cellar.

1. Preparing the Wine Cellar Walls

To achieve proper wine storage, all custom wine cellars must be constructed with the goal of creating a refrigerated environment suitable for aging wine. For this Laguna Hills wine cellar project, the walls were prepared properly before any racking was installed.

The small unused powder room had an external wall with a window, plumbing fixtures, and cabinetry that had to be removed. Once the walls were cleared of these, a vapor barrier and insulation were installed. Then, the walls were refinished to make the room ready for the wine cellar cooling unit and the wine racks.

2. Custom Wine Cellar Cooling Unit by US Cellar Systems

A quality wine cellar cooling system is one of the essential parts of any wine storage room. Without a good wine cellar cooling unit, a wine cellar will be rendered useless. There are various kinds of wine cellar refrigeration systems on the market, and each wine cellar needs a different one, depending on its requirements. US Cellar Systems not only provides high-quality wine cellar refrigeration units in Orange County, California but also helps their clients determine the appropriate cooling equipment for their wine storage room.

For the Laguna Hills Orange County Wine Cellar Project, it was determined that the wine cellar cooling system appropriate was a RM 3600 split type wine cellar refrigeration unit. Since the unit is split type, the evaporator was installed behind a louvered grill in the custom wine racks, while the condenser was installed in another room. This split configuration of the cooling unit minimized the noise inside the custom wine cellar.

Consulting with the Wine Cellar Design Expert

Coastal Custom Wine Cellars offers a free consultation, along with a 3D design of their client’s dream custom wine cellar. This process makes sure that the wine cellar is designed according to the client’s preference, without compromising its functionality.

For the Laguna Hills Custom Wine Cellar Project, the client consulted with Coastal’s wine cellar design expert, and the topics discussed included the types of wines that they intended to store, how many they planned to store, how they wanted the bottles to be displayed, and how they wanted to manage the collection. As a standard practice, Coastal provided the client with a free 3D wine cellar design package. The 3D design helped the client get a clearer perspective on what the cellar would look like. It also ensured that the client liked the final design before the custom wine cellar was actually constructed.

The Final Wine Cellar Design

The wine cellar design layout for this Orange County Wine Cellar Project allowed for a total capacity of 471 wine bottles. The wine cellar design included a display arch, diamond bin storage, and high reveal and horizontal display rows.

1. Custom Wine Racking

Wine racks can be made from a variety of materials, but for this wine cellar project, wood racks were used. More specifically, Mahogany was used to construct the custom wine racks, and a natural clear finish was applied to them.

One of the challenges that Coastal had with this particular project was the fact that the room was only 60 inches wide, with an offset entry door close to the left wall. What they did to solve the constraint in space was maximize the total storage capacity, by installing 6” deep horizontal, label forward, and display wine racks on the left-hand wall. Not only is this style of wine racking aesthetically pleasing, but it is also able to accommodate a wide variety of wine bottles, from standard to magnum sizes. Additionally, this style of wine racking is shallow, and will not block the entry to the wine storage room.

The rest of the wine racks were 13 ½ inches deep. An arched tasting area was placed right across the entryway, with a horizontal display underneath, for featuring wines. On the sides of the arch, high reveal rows that tilted the bottles to display the labels were added.

High reveal display rows were continued on the right-hand side wall, including plenty of high capacity standard wine racks. Also, a central diamond bin case storage area was added below. At the top of the wall, a specially manufactured louvered grill made from Mahogany was installed, to conceal the wine cellar cooling unit.

2. Wine Cellar Door

Wine cellar doors play an important role in keeping the temperature and humidity inside a wine cellar constant. Wine cellar doors should be made from durable products. For this wine cellar project in Orange County, dual pane glass with chestnut stained mahogany framing was used, so that the inside of the wine cellar could be viewed from the outside.

    Wine Cellar Mansfield Dallas Texas

Project – Residential Custom Wine Cellar Under the Staircase

Custom Wine Cellar Dallas Texas Project – Unique Wine Cellar Under the Stairs

One of the most noteworthy projects that Wine Cellar Specialists completed is the custom wine cellar built under the staircase of a home in Mansfield, Dallas, Texas.

The client had a closet under the staircase in his home and wanted to turn the space into a wine storage room. Wine Cellar Specialists took the challenge and successfully created a unique and elegant wine cellar.

Custom Wine Racks for the Unique Under the Staircase Cellar

The closet room’s wall was curved, and the wine cellar builders constructed custom wine racks specially built to fit the curve of the wall. The builders made sure that the wine racking had a seamless appearance, to make the aesthetics of the wine storage room gorgeous. There was minimal use of joints and screw holes because these would not achieve the seamless appearance that was being aimed for.

The curved wine racks are made from Mahogany, which is one of the most durable types of wood used for wooden wine cellars. Mahogany is a wood species ideal for humid environments like wine cellars because it does not warp or swell, and is highly resistant to decay caused by dampness. The Mahogany wooden wine racks were also given a rustic stain and lacquer, to make them more beautiful.

    Custom Wine Cellar Wine Racks

Unique Custom Wine Racks in Mansfield Texas Wine Cellar Project

The racking design begins with lattice horizontal display racks along the straight walls of the cellar. They are also connected by a mini quarter round rack to the center area of individual 750 bottles, with a display row with a true radius curve. The wine cellar ends at the low end, with a horizontal rack that tops off a lattice X bin, with a lattice case storage wine rack at the bottom.

Reclaimed Wine Barrels – A Beautiful Wine Cellar Flooring Option

Wine cellar flooring also contributes to the beauty of a wine storage room. There are various options for wine cellar flooring in Dallas, Texas. For this Mansfield wine cellar Project, reclaimed wine barrels were used.

Wine Cellar Floor from Reclaimed Wine Barrels

Reclaimed Wine Barrel Flooring in Mansfield Wine Cellar

Wine barrels are a wonderful option for custom wine cellar flooring. Moreover, you can choose to use the cooperage, the infusion, or the stave. The cooperage, which is named after the facilities in which the barrels were made, refers to the barrel heads. The cooperage has the original wine barrel stamps and markings, which can be a unique accent for your wine flooring. The infusion refers to the inside part of the wine barrels. This part is stained by the wines that the barrels used to hold. Wine cellar floorings that use wine barrel infusions have a beautiful, colorful character to them. Lastly, the stave is the outer part of the wine barrels, that has unique patterns and indentations, created by the hoops that are used to hold the barrels together. The patterns and indentations are beautiful on a wine cellar floor.

The client in the Mansfield wine cellar project chose to use the cooperages of reclaimed wine barrels for their residential wine cellar flooring. The overall effect was gorgeous. The barrels retained the aroma of the wines that used to be stored in them, which added to the ambiance of the home custom wine cellar. The client really loved how the reclaimed wine barrel flooring turned out.

    Purpose Built Wine Cellar Door

    Wine Cellar Specialist Designs Door

Wine Cellar Door in the Mansfield Texas Cellar Project

Residential custom wine cellar doors also play an important role in a wine storage room. The door secures the room, helps in keeping the temperature and humidity stable and adds to the aesthetic design of a wine cellar.

Wine Cellar Specialists installed a purpose-built wrought iron door for the Mansfield Dallas Texas wine cellar project. The wine cellar door also had operable glass, for ease of cleaning. The door’s Venetian View design, its copper mist color, and its oil-rubbed bronze Saratoga handle set gave it a very classy appearance.

Other Details of the Wine Cellar Design

To further accentuate the wine cellar, the left and end walls were painted with an orange-brick color, while the right wall and ceiling were covered with a faux brick material. The bricks and the paint created a beautiful rustic charm and country appeal.

Ductless split wine cellar refrigeration units are ideal for small spaces, like this under-the-staircase custom wine cellar, because they occupy minimal space, and are not noisy.

Housing for the wine cellar cooling unit was constructed using Mahogany wood with rustic stain and lacquer, to match the wine racking.

Miami Wine Cellar Builder Solves Problem of Temperature Control While Offering Contemporary Design

Check out this project story of a stunning wine cellar recently installed by one of our best dealers in Miami Florida. They used one of our RM Split Refrigeration Systems for the climate control system.

All Good Wine Cellars need a great Climate Control System

Wine must be aged in a cool, dark, and humid environment before it is poured into a glass and enjoyed by the drinker. With this goal, you will need a refrigerated wine cellar to control temperature and humidity, resulting in wines of distinct characteristics.

Wine Cellar International a top US Cellar Systems dealer

Wine Cellar International is a top US Cellar Systems dealer

Wine cellars are designed to provide the wine with the safest environment for both short-term and long-term periods. This is a reason the number of wine collectors in Florida who are investing in a refrigerated residential wine cellar has been increasing.

Whatever the size of the collection, nature of the room, or the types of wine – seeking the help of the right company is extremely important. You want a company that has extensive experience in the wine cellar industry and knows how to protect temperature.

In Florida, one of the most trusted companies that build custom wine cellars with passion is Wine Cellar International. They have created stellar wine cellar designs, installed with the most suitable wine cellar refrigeration systems. They also offer doors, racking, and flooring. They work with unique materials and products to make your wine cellar very distinct.

Every wine cellar needs an efficient wine cooling system to prevent unstable temperature and humidity. US Cellar Systems is a partner of Wine Cellar International in providing their clients’ wine cellar with the best refrigeration system essential to protect their investment. In their recent wine cellar project in Miami Beach, Florida, Wine Cellar International selected one of our cooling systems because of our ability to control the condition within the room.

Miami Beach Florida Home Wine Cellar

The client’s home in the North Bay Road, Miami Beach Florida has been recently renovated. The owner wanted a contemporary-style and functional wine cellar. After discussing the requirements, needs, and wants of the owner, Wine Cellar International noted every detail carefully and integrated them into the wine cellar design.

Impressive Features of the Miami Beach Residential Wine Room

The space was not that big so all the wine racks were maximized to the ceiling’s height. Made of brushed stainless steel, the contemporary custom wine racks look very sophisticated.

Trying to find a bottle stored vertically comes with obvious challenges in reading the label. In this case, 3-bottle deep wine racks on the left and right side walls allowed the bottles to be stored horizontally, solving the label reading problem. The lowest portion of these wine racks was designed with case storage. The back wall was installed with bin and bulk storage racks.

    Appealing Contemporary Steel Wine Racks

Many customers don’t realize that like the walls and ceilings, the flooring of a wine cellar must be insulated to maintain a consistent temperature in the wine cellar. In addition to proper insulation, recycled metal was the ideal material for the floor to create the contemporary ambiance that the client wanted to achieve in the space.

    Recycled Metal Wine Cellar Flooring

Another impressive feature of this modern wine cellar is the ceiling. It is made of a highly-reflective mirror that creates an illusion of a larger space.

Nothing spoils the final result of a beautiful wine construction project than drab lighting. In this case, the client wanted real drama, opting for overhead lighting which spotlighted the client’s favorite vintages. Directional lighting is a great option for highlighting any portion of your wine cellar that you want to emphasize visually.

Too much heat can alter wine’s taste and may damage it. It is important to keep in mind that the lighting in your wine cellar must emit minimal heat. LED lights were used for this project for this very reason. These kinds of lights are commonly used in wine cellars where the aesthetic appeal and wine safety are both a priority.

The floor was also installed with some accent lighting that sweeps across the whole space. You will see a stunning wine storage display when all the lights are turned on.

A leaky room can be a real problem for a wine cellar, allowing the cool air to escape and the warm air to infiltrate the space. Sealing the wine room was an important step in this project, preventing wine from being ruined.

Inset glass gasket was placed around the glass and a stainless steel door was used to ensure a tight seal. This also keeps the wine cellar cooling unit from working too hard, resulting in lower consumption of electricity.

    Wine Cellar Door and Lighting

It should be pointed out that a properly sealed room and door cannot achieve the ideal conditions in a wine cellar by themselves. Finding a wine cooling unit of high performance and efficiency that is appropriate to the conditions of the particular room is also vitally necessary.

A Wise Choice of Wine Cellar Refrigeration System

Extreme changes in temperature and humidity levels can ruin wines, making them undrinkable and wasting your investment. A wine cellar cannot perform its main function as the best wine storage solution without an installed refrigeration system.

With US Cellar Systems’ expertise in wine storage and their full array of wine cellar cooling units, they can provide the best refrigeration system to safeguard your wine collection.

Split Refrigeration System from US Cellar Systems

In this Miami Beach home wine cellar built by Wine Cellar International, a Rack Mounted (RM) series, split wine refrigeration system was used. The air handler or evaporator was mounted above the wine cellar door, hidden from view outside the wine room. The condenser was placed outside to prevent noise in the wine cellar. There is a thermostat reader for easy monitoring of the temperature and humidity in the wine cellar.

The versatility of this system makes it widely used by our dealers in wine cellar construction. The aluminum housing is insulated and rust-proof. This system is designed with the goal to deliver cool air for locations from medium to high temperature.

The Fundamental Facts About Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

A wine cellar cooling unit is an essential part of a custom wine cellar in California. It is the component of a wine storage room that provides the cool air necessary for wines to be stored properly. A wine cellar cooling unit is designed to provide the temperature levels that wines need to age tastefully. Here are some basic facts on wine cellar cooling units:

Different Types of Wine Cellar Cooling Units

Different Types of Wine Cellar Cooling Units

    1. Different Wine Cellars Need Different Wine Cellar Cooling Units

When choosing the appropriate wine cellar cooling systems for your residential custom wine cellar, it is wise to consult with a wine storage professional. Every wine cellar is unique, and each has its own set of challenges, which need to be identified prior to and during construction. A wine cellar professional will help you assess the requirements of your custom wine cellar in Orange County, California so that the right cooling unit for you can be determined.

    2. All Cooling Units Create Noise

The fact is, all wine cellar refrigeration units in Orange County, California create some level of noise, which is generated by the unit’s compressor, and by the airflow through the fans. There are some units that create less noise than others, depending on their configuration. Split wine cellar cooling units create less noise than self-contained wine cellar refrigeration units, for example. This is because the noisy part of the former is placed a ways from the cellar, while the latter has all of the parts mounted on the cellar wall.

    3. Wine Cellar Refrigeration Units Generally Run All of the Time

Some people wonder how often and for how long their cellar cooling units need to run. The amount of time that these units need to operate depends on the size and construction of the cellar, the size of the unit, and the ventilation environment. A wine cellar refrigeration unit needs to run at least 50% to 70% of the time, on average, in order to consistently keep the temperature in the cellar at the ideal levels.

    4. Cooling Units Though They Are, They Also Generate Heat

Custom wine cellar cooling units operate by absorbing heat inside the cellar and expelling it through the condenser. The heat collected should be effectively dissipated, so that the unit can function properly. This means that proper ventilation must be provided. Without it, the wine cellar environment will be compromised, and the unit easily damaged.

    5. Temperature Differential is Critical

Temperature differential refers to the difference a home wine cellar cooling unit can cool and the temperature of the room it is exhausting to. For example, if a cooling unit has a differential of 40 degrees Fahrenheit, this means that if the exhaust environment is 90 degrees Fahrenheit, it will be able to cool the wine storage room down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. If the differential is 30 degrees, it can cool the room down to 60 degrees only.

Before purchasing a cellar refrigeration unit, check its temperature differential, so that you can assess whether or not it is capable of cooling your home wine cellar to the ideal temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

    6. Ideal Humidity is Essential

Wines cannot be stored properly without the ideal humidity levels. An overly humid environment may cause mold and mildew to form on the wine labels, and around the entire wine cellar. If the cellar environment lacks humidity, corks tend to dry out, shrink, and crack, which allows air to enter the bottle and thereby spoil the wine. Choose a residential custom wine cellar cooling unit that is efficient enough to provide a cellar with the ideal level of humidity, which is around 60 to 80 percent.

    7. Proper Insulation is Imperative

Wine Cellar Insulation and Vapor Barrier Proper Installation

Wine Cellar Insulation and Vapor Barrier Proper Installation

Without proper insulation, a home custom wine cellar refrigeration system will not be able to provide the ideal conditions, regardless of its type or its brand. Without the right insulation, cooling units are forced to work harder to achieve the right temperature. An overworked cooling unit can break all too easily.

    8. Vapor Barriers are Important

Vapor barriers are just as important as insulation. You must make sure that vapor barriers are properly installed in your custom wine cellar, to help your unit provide the ideal humidity. Improperly installed barriers result in a compromise in the wine storage environment, and ultimately, damage your wines.

    9. A Good Wine Cellar Door is Essential

Wine cellar doors play a very important role in keeping a wine storage room air tight. If a residential custom wine cellar door is not installed correctly, the temperature and humidity in the wine storage room will fluctuate constantly. Your wine cellar cooling system will not be effective regardless its brand or type if your cellar door is not properly installed.

    10. Plan Wine Cellar Lighting Properly

A custom wine cellar’s lighting can either help or disturb the wine cellar unit’s ability to maintain the temperature and humidity in the ideal levels. Some residential custom wine cellar lighting emit too much heat that can counteract with the wine cellar refrigeration unit’s ability to cool the wine storage room. Choose your wine cellar lighting properly. Ideally, Light Emitting Diode or LED lighting should be used for home wine cellars.

    11. Wine Cellar Cooling Units Come in 3 Different Types

Custom wine cellar refrigeration systems in Orange County, California can either be a self-contained through-the-wall cooling unit, a ducted split cooling system or a ductless split type cooling unit. The type of cooling unit you need depends on many factors including the size of your residential wine cellar, the number of bottles in your collection, etc.

Residential Wine Cellar in Texas by Wine Cellar Spec

The wine closet conversion project was amazingly affordable.

The residential wine cellar was designed with a Tuscan custom wine cellar door that had a square top and arched, dual-plane glass with a wrought iron inset.

Every single part of a wine cellar should be designed to complement the whole, as well as the existing home décor. For a wooden wine cellar, even the stain and finish should be carefully chosen so that the colors match the décor and the overall design.

As for the custom wine cellar door, a custom stain was applied to match the existing cabinetry in the home. Custom moldings were also added to complement the molding style in the client’s home.

Wine Racks Used in the Frisco Residential Wine Cellar

To meet the home owner’s personal preferences for how the home wine cellar should look, wooden wine racks were used in this wine cellar project. Among the various kinds of wood species used for wooden wine racks in Texas, rich Mahogany was the choice for this cellar. Moreover, a non-aromatic finish was applied.

Residential Wine Cellar Wall – Waterfall Wine Rack Design

There are different kinds of lacquers and finishes that can be used for wooden custom wine racks in Texas, but it is always preferable to use non-aromatic kinds. Lacquers that produce odors can potentially ruin your wines.

Keep in mind that a custom wine cellar is a tightly sealed room. Therefore, even the slightest odor can build up in the long run and can affect the smell and taste of your wines.

The custom wine racks installed were designed to have lower, double deep, solid X bins, with a tabletop for wine tasting.

This design allows for bulk storage in the custom wine cellar. A full wall of horizontal single deep custom wine racks and a wine rack with a waterfall style were built to follow the slant of the ceiling beneath the stairs. The wine rack design basically maximizes the space available and increases the storage capacity of the wine room.

Wine Cellar Cooling System and Air Duct Cleaning

Everybody loves a fine glass of wine, perhaps with their dinner or while socializing with friends. These days, people want to take it a step further by actually building a wine cellar right in the comfort of their own home. Because of innovations in the wine industry and the availability of advanced technology, residential wine storage has now been made more convenient and accessible for everyone.

Wine racks are essential for wine collectors who just have a small number of wine bottles and limited space and budget. If you want to invest in a custom wine cellar, a proper wine cooling unit is crucial. Let’s understand first the function of a wine cellar refrigeration system.

Wine Cellar Cooling Units Preserve Wine’s Quality

Wine cooling units are basically cooling systems that you install in your wine cellar to ensure the proper aging and storage of your wine. Wine is a very complex liquid, and it needs everything to be just right in order for it to age in the best way possible.

Maintaining a constant temperature will result in graceful aging of wine. A wine cellar cooling system regulates the temperature level in your wine room, making sure it doesn’t fluctuate. If there are constant temperature changes, wine has a tendency to go bad. The best temperature for wine storage is 55-57 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another thing that the wine cooling system controls is humidity. If humidity is too high, the glue on the label of the wine bottle melts and molds grow on the bottle. On the other hand, if the humidity is too low, the wine cork dries up and may crack which can lead to wine leakage and wine faults.

After choosing the wine cellar refrigeration system suited to your needs and budget, it is vital that you have the air duct cleaned regularly to ensure that your cooling unit is working efficiently.

Why Air Duct Cleaning is Important for Wine Cellar Cooling Units

Have Your Wine Cellar Cooling Unit Air Ducts Cleaned Regularly

Have Your Wine Cellar Cooling Unit Air Ducts Cleaned Regularly

Over the course of time, air ducts can gather dirt, dust, pollen, bacteria, and even dead insects. When these contaminants block your air duct, this can affect the level of the temperature that your wine cellar needs, which can lead to wine spoilage. Aside from this, your wine cooling system might pick up the dirt, allergens, or bacteria from the blockage and carry it into your wine storage room which can potentially harm not only your wine collection, but your health as well.

These are the reasons why it’s crucial that you regularly get your air ducts cleaned. It should be a top priority, and it would be best to have it professionally done.

Choosing Wine Cellar Cooling Systems New York NY – Consulting with Wine Cellar Companies

Wine Cellar Companies Choose US Cellar Systems' Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

Wine Cellar Companies Choose US Cellar Systems’ Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

Wines are one of the few consumable goods that improve over time, provided that they are stored in a dark and stable environment.  Modern wine rooms are equipped with wine cellar cooling systems that help facilitate the proper climate conditions for storing and aging wines.  The core purpose of wine cellar refrigeration systems is to stabilize temperature and humidity and keep them at the optimum levels.

Significant changes in temperature can speed up the aging process and ruin the overall quality of wines.  Unstable humidity levels can dry out the cork and encourage mold infestation that can damage wine labels.  The presence of wine cellar cooling systems New York NY will help prevent fluctuations in a wine cellar environment by regulating temperature within 50 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit and maintaining humidity between 60 and 75 percent.

Wine cellar cooling systems New York NY are designed to be flexible and adaptable to the uniqueness of each wine storage space.  There are a range of wine cellar cooling systems manufactured by different companies that are out on the market, which can make the selection process quite taxing.  Here are a few helpful tips for choosing a reliable and efficient wine cellar refrigeration system.

Tip #1: Learn the Types of Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

    Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

    Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

First, learn the different types of wine cellar cooling systems, including their features and specifications, as this will help potential buyers make informed decisions.  There are three main categories of cooling units: the ductless split system, the through the wall system, and the ducted system.

A ductless split system consists of two separate mechanical components: the evaporator unit and the condensing unit.  This cooling system promotes whisper quiet air circulation because the condenser (the unit that produces heat and noise) can be installed in a remote location.  The evaporator coil (which is placed inside the wine room) is connected to the condenser via copper tubing and electrical wiring.

Wine cellar cooling systems New York NY with through-the-wall styles are self-contained units that are mounted on the cellar wall and exhaust warm air into a well-ventilated adjacent room.  This refrigeration unit is ideal for small wine cellars.

A ducted system has two types: split and self-contained.  This unit provides maximum flexibility in terms of installation options.  Both types of this ducted system can be installed in a remote location, which will not only eliminate noise and vibration inside the storage space, but also add to the aesthetic value of the room.

There are Factors to Consider When Choosing a Wine Cellar Cooling System

There are Factors to Consider When Choosing a Wine Cellar Cooling System

    Tip #2: Consider Vital Factors

Secondly, take into account the following factors: the amount of insulation, the size and location of the wine cellar space, the number of wine bottles intended for storage, the frequency of door opening and closing, and the ambient conditions.  These variables will help determine the proper size and capacity of the wine cellar climate control system.

Different wine cellar cooling systems have different capacities; some are ideal for small spaces, others function best in larger rooms.  Generally, these factors will also determine the effectiveness of wine storage and wine aging.

    Tip #3: Consult with Professionals

Lastly, consult with professional experts from wine cellar companies.  Most wine cellar companies have tie-ups with reputable manufacturers of refrigeration systems.  They have trained technicians that can present a specific set of storage solutions based on preferences and limitations of the client.  Consultants from wine cellar companies will also conduct a heat load calculation to ensure that the selected cooling unit is well-suited to the application.

WM Series Wine Cellar Cooling Units by US Cellar Systems

Starting your own wine collection is a long but exciting and rewarding process. There are many things to consider, and plenty of accessories needed to properly begin a good wine collection, but one of the first things you will need is a wine cellar with a climate-controlled environment.

Keep your Wines Safe with the Right Wine Cellar Refrigeration System

Why is wine cellar climate control important? Well, wine aging is a meticulous process and wine cellars must maintain constant wine storage temperature, with the humidity at a specific level. This allows for the wine to age properly, and prevents spillage or spoilage.

proper wine cellar refrigeration system is crucial in maintaining the highly delicate balance of temperature and humidity needed for your wine cellar with the best temperature pegged at 55° F and a humidity level of 75%.

What happens if the temperature fluctuates too much? The wine gets stressed and does not age in a natural way, making it taste sour. As for humidity, high levels cause the growth of mold and destroy the label of your wine. If the humidity is too low, the cork tends to dry up and crack, which can lead to liquid being lost.

Now, there are a number of wine cooling systems out there on the market, but the three basic types are the self-contained system, the split system, and the through-the-wall system. The through-the-wall type is best for beginners with a small space in their residential wine cellar because they are inexpensive and take very little space. Just like an air conditioner, they are installed through the wall of your cellar.

    Reliable Wine Cellar Cooling Units

The Wall Cooler WM Series by US Cellar Systems is a great option for your wine cooling needs. They come with a creative design, which allows for it to be mounted vertically in between wall studs.

Like a through-the-wall type of wine cooler, it has a built-in thermostat and temperature sensor. But, unlike the through-the-wall type of unit, they don’t need exhaust. This makes them perfectly suited for odd placements in the room where there’s wall space that isn’t being utilized.

Other features of the Wall Cooler WM Series include insulated, rust-proof aluminum housing, thermally-protected and permanently lubricated motor, factory-installed Automatic Expansion valves that ensures constant coil temperature that promotes humidity balance, plus all units are factory-wired to make sure that field installation is simple.
